제4회 부산국제사진제가 2020년 9월 19일부터 10월 18일까지 열렸다. 해외에서 초청된 작가와 국내 작가 및 연합은 물론이고 부산 청소년들도 어마어마한 규모의 예술 공간으로 재탄생한 영도 거청조선소에 작품을 전시했다. “인류세_ 지구를 지키자”라는테마로 열린 이번 부산국제사진제는 시의적절하고도 솔직한 전시회였다. 2020년, 인류가 코로나바이러스와 분투하는 동안 우리 삶의 터전은 수십 년에 걸쳐 생태학적으로 어마어마한 변화를 거쳐 왔다. 놀랍게도 대부분 우리 스스로, 그리고 우리의 산업 활동으로 자초한 이 상황은 바이러스보다 우리의 미래에 더 오래 지속될 영향을 주고 있다.

The 4th edition of the Busan International Photo Festival ran from September 19th until October 18th, 2020. Invited artists from abroad, local photographers and associations, as well as youth from Busan, exhibited their works within the Geocheong shipyard in Yeong island; a shipyard repurposed as an immense and majestic art space. Curated under the general theme "Anthropocene _ Save our Planet", this year’s BIPF seemed timely and frank. Indeed, while humanity has been struggling with the coronavirus in 2020, our very habitat has been undergoing radical ecological changes for decades. Shockingly, these effects, which for the most part were brought upon by ourselves and by our industrial activity, may in fact have a more long-lasting impact on our future than the virus will…
